fortune cookie of the week: "There's a secret romance blooming! Go for it, in spite of your hesitation."

Chinese food, whether lunch or dinner, is something I usually do in the company of others.

So, tonight, when I got Chinese food just for myself, it seemed very unusual.

And lately, my own personal "go for it!" attitude with regard to romance, or at least a bit of frivolity with a member of the opposite sex, really hasn't worked out.

Okay, maybe I'm greedy. I have Steady Eddie, and I have Lucky Bastard, and between the two, things are pretty good. But there's always room for another adventure. Maybe I shouldn't think of men as adventures. Maybe to do so is only doing what men have done, and continue to do, to women. Two wrongs don't necessarily make a right, and I'm sure I'm not changing anything on a global basis, but I kind of enjoy the adventures.

Furthermore, it was funny to get this particular fortune in December for another reason. One of the last tarot card readings I had said that in the last quarter of the Chinese new year I would probably meet a significant man--someone who would be the true love of my life. So, between the tarot card reading and the fortune cookie, something might be going on in the cosmos to bring true love in my life.

But, being a practical sort, I'm not holding my breath.

The tarot card readers never say much about Steady Eddie, even though he's been in my life for almost 3 years now, and seems to stick by me throughout all my stuff and nonsense and adventures. They usually see him as nondescript, coming and going, vague, or not the one.

So, if the tarot readers are right, and the fortune cookie is right, I'm certainly going to have a dilemma on my hands.

Then again, I'm pretty good at juggling. After all, I'm a practical sort.
