Coming Out of the Closet

A couple of weeks ago, Rebecca dinged me on a meme about my closet....so here goes:

Three Random Facts About My Closet:
1) I have only *one* closet proper--and 3 crawlspaces for storage
2) It contains items other than clothing--like several NRFB Barbie dolls, wigs, and cross-country ski boots.
3) It goes back alot farther (on the right side) than it appears to.

Three Items I've Never Worn but Still Haven't Tossed
1)Panne Velvet jacket that's still too big
2)white flowered skirt I bought, in the jr. dept, this past summer (some trends are a no-no, no matter what age)
3) Turquoise blue 1940's spring coat with pink lining

Three Items I'll Never Get Rid of No Matter How Ugly They Get
1) cheap black kimono with white silkscreened dragon on the back
2) long black vinyl cutaway coat
3) peacock blue nehru jacket from 1960's

Three Items People Wouldn't Expect to Find in My Closet
1)A normal, beige raincoat
2)Pink leather skirt
3)Fuscha wool swing coat (gift from mother--makes me look like a cute little cupcake)

Three Items that made me go "Oh Lord, what was I thinking?"
1) furry leopard skirt--makes me look like Edith Prickly, esp. with matching leopard hat
2) odd green silk blouse with embroidered beaded flowers (ugly color! but I still wear it)
3) ankle length black skirt--too long!

Three Things I have a Surprising Number of
1) Pink shoes (final count: 5 pair)
2) Black suit jackets (8)
3) black boots (a staggering 10 pair, collected over 20 years!)

Three Dominant Colors in My Wardrobe
1) Black (too much retail work!)
2) Red
3) pink (oddly enough--and you can see in the pic)

Three Items That Never Fail to Put Me in a Good Mood When I Wear Them
1)Pink shoes (any pair)
2)silk blouses (a meager luxury)
3)red sweater with fall motif embroidery

Wow...I got alot of stuff--alot of fun stuff! I keep wanting to pair down the black suit jackets, but I've had so many of them for so long that they've acquired "sentimental value." And, as of last try-on time, the vinyl coat is getting a bit snug--but try explaining that one to the Salvation Army!

Now it's my turn! Tag Mim, Heather, and Diana--you know you've got some interesting stuff in there! :-)

hmm... I'll have to do a bit of tidying... or perhaps I'll do ALL my closets... that would include my crafting/junk closet in the other room and that's got some pretty wacky stuff in it. Excuse to clean it too... I'll probably have mine up next week since everything is so messy I'd be ashamed to blog it :)

I'm amazed you're able to fit all that in your closet and have it look so damned neat.

You know you really should post a pic of yourself in that fuscia swing coat with a pillbox hat, some godawful rhinestone earrings or fake pearly baubles and the appropriate heels standing in an appropriate pastel setting. Beside a washing machine or holding a toaster would be good. Holding a Kennedy would be better, if you can manage it.

apparently, from idyll's comment, my closet takes a very flattering picture! Everything might fit, but if you try to take something out, you could end up with The Fibber McGee Effect.

I usually like to wear the fuscha swing coat with my leopard hat, black stockings and black boots. It's really something with the pointy-toe, black patent leather (real patent leather, no less) lace up ankle boots. and the four rhinestone snoflake pins. yep. nothing says Happy Holidays!like an excess of rhinestone holiday pins.

A Kennedy--well, if I stand around Boston long enough, a reasonable facsimilie would probably walk by ...

I bet, though, that all four of us could get lost in Mim's craft closet and come out covered in glue and glitter. Would be too much fun!
