Fat Tuesday
Today is Fat Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday and the beginnig of Lent.
I should get one of those huge Polish pastries and gorge myself, then give up pastry for Lent. Oh, perish the thought!
Speaking of which, I have been thinking alot about giving something up for Lent, and can't seem to come to a decision. I toyed with the idea of giving up Lucky Bastard for Lent, but, as a friend of mine pointed out, I've been giving him up at various points throughout the year, and maybe it's more about giving up on giving up and accepting the situation for what it is...in other words, de-vesting it of drama.
Ah, but it begs the question--how does one truly separate the drama from the Drama Queen?
Tomorrow is also the beginning of Chinese (or, now Asian) New Year. It's the Year of the Rooster (or Chicken, because, when fully analyzed by Chinese astrologers, it is a female year--go figure). For some reason, Chinese New Year seems to have some significance for me. It's like a re-start after the beginning. A do-over.
But, if one thinks about it, Ash Wednesday and Chinese New Year converging on the same day should cause some fascinating reactions. And have drama of its own.
