Just in case you might be in the mood to watch some bizaare sadomasochistic Italian cinema from the 1970's, please note that it is not a good idea to watch Passolini's Salo either before eating or before going to bed.
As a friend of mine said about the film, "I'll never look at sausage quite the same way again."
As for me, it wasn't necessarily the imagery that got to me, but the underlying social commentary and philosophical wrangling. I just about get the philosophical implications of the Marquis de Sade in Facist Italy, but to try to block the existentialist connundrum the film causes long enough to get a good night's sleep will take a bit of mental gymnastics.
