Your Total Savings: $57.83
Or so that's what my receipt claimed I saved on groceries so far this year.
Which got me thinking about how much I might have "saved" overall from both the Stop and Shop and Big Y, as well as Wal-Mart and Target.
I wondered what it would look like if I took all that spare change and put it in one place. How much could I save in a year's time if I took all that money that is metaphorically saved and put it into a savings account??
Online banking could make it much easier to implement this. Every time I went to the grocery or discount store, I could take my receipt, look at that bottom line "your savings" figure for each purchas, and simply make a transfer from my checking to my savings account.
I could draft a spreadsheet to track this (yes, I ponied up the $149.00 to upgrade my trial version of Windows Office to the Teacher and Student edition. The Microsoft Works Spreadshee was just too ricky-ticky and unpredictable for serious use.)
The other day I had decided to set up a spreadsheet to track my purchases--I'm very curious to see where my money goes, now that I know I actually *have* money. So, it wouldn't be much more difficult to set up a spreadsheet to see how much I've "saved" in a year's time...
okay, that's the deal--set up a spreadsheet and track from Sep 06 to Sept 07 exactly how much I "save" on purchases.
Sweetner Update so far, I've done well with using Sweet Simplicity and avoiding extra sugar. I've even lost 5 lbs. Yesterday, I decided to have a coke with lunch--got a headache, dry mouth, and felt awful afterward. Had a very small portion of ice cream last night--got a headache, dry mouth, felt awful. Went to bed early. Woke up with what felt like a hangover. Had to pop some tylenol to get rid of said headache. I think I'm going to just avoid sugar as much as I possibly can--put it on the list of "allergens" or something. It won't be easy. Sugar, like soy, is pretty much in everything. But, let me give it a shot and see what happens. I can't afford these wickedmother headaches.

Shalom Tish,
And then there's all the high fructose corn syrup everywhere.
B'shalom,

So right, Jeff...trying to avoid that one's worse than trying to avoid soy. No wonder we're a nation on the verge of Type II diabetes.
