Hot Weather Alert: I am having a massive amount of difficulty accessing the Internet from my home due to the heat wave. I have dial-up (yes, the Stone Age) and the telephone lines in my house, and at the switching station, are quite old and have lots of problems. Often in the summer they are affected by humidity, rain, and the heat. It takes roughly five minutes to load the log-in page for my email, and you really don't want to know how long it takes just to see the page that tells me how much mail I have!
Then again, it doesn't necessarily have to be the heat...it could also be the dial-up service getting overloaded. That, too, often slows down 'net access at my house.
Needless to say, this is going to limit the amount of blogging I will be able to do until I get the DSL equipment I ordered. Yes, I'm switching over because I cannot afford to waste time with crappy dial-up. I've got too many irons in the fire to be sitting around and poking along like Festus on the range....(old Gunsmoke reference, if you didn't get it already.)

Congrats on the upcoming dsl! I got cable broadband a year ago and would give up food before I'd go back to dial-up.
After what happened today, it can't come soon enough! but, they're still doing some diagnostics, so I won't really know until the 24th. In the meantime, I'm going to check into broadband too--just in case
:-)
