Honorable Mention

I got mentioned in Jon Friedman's latest piece in
MarketWatch!

The comment references
Snarkaholic

The Web logs even get a kick out of eating their own. No one, even another blogger, is safe from mindless criticism. "Believe it or not," blogger Tish Grier wrote to me from Chicopee, Mass., "I recently got challenged on the title of my blog because I'm not all snark all the time. There are a number of bloggers who can't get with the idea of irony and metaphor."

See what can happen when you answer email from an influential New York based columnist!

Thanks Jon!

(yes, this post is throwing off the alignment of this blog...I'm sure it will correct itself soon)

Yeah, Tish, I suppose I don't know a thing about irony and metaphor.

Happy De Lurking week - I don't visit or comment here much but when I do visit I'm always glad I did!

Well, idyll, saying that I was "nice" on Snark really wasn't all that accurate--and made me think that my sense of irony was being lost.

"Nice" is one of those words that has a particular negative female connotation--and women like using the term in a certain derogatory manner towards other women. it's a way of keeping order.

BTW, the comment Jon referenced wasn't necessarily about you. It also has to do with other comments and something I've observed in other places in the blogosphere. there's a tendancy among some to feel uncomfortable about a blog that is not exactly what its title says it is. For me, I don't care what a blog's title is--it's more about what the content is saying.

As I said to Jon, "Napsterization" isn't about Napster and "HorsePigCow" isn't about animal husbandry. So whether or not my other blog is always about being snarky really shouldn't be all that important.
