Letting My Technorati Rank Slip
I went in tonight to check my Technorati rank--and it seems I'm slipping considerably.
I wonder if it's all that important to be in the ratrace that keeping track of one's rank can end up becoming. With the move and all, I've been thinking more and more about the visceral material world than the world of bytes and links. I've become increasingly worried about income, about connections to others in this day to day realm vs. connections online and link capital.
Is it all that important, really to be 65,009 or 32,534? or is it more important to connect up with the guy who's got a photography exhibit at a gallery down the street or someone from a local company who wants to ask me more about blogging?
Priorities, I guess...

Tish, I think the Techno rank is interesting, but, in the end, it doesn't seem worth the agita. Of course, I'm not very competitive, and I've more or less learned to live with that.
But it's hard to ignore that notoriety is flattering, and that, for me, is the hardest nut to crack.
I do hope the move goes well!
#547,581 here reassuring you that you have a long, long way to slip on down that Long Tail before you should start worrying about such things.
Hope all is well, Tish!

Hi guys!
you know, it's definitely the "boasting rights" to Technorati rank that has my knickers in a bit of a bunch--then again, who really needs the agita?? I don't....
hey Jersey--sorry to hear the new blogger beta so buggy! you're the second guy who's said that....
And, yes, Bill, the move went well--although I'm still in not all unpacked and have a serious number of items that must be ebayed out. after this week I'll--hopefully--have some time for that.
